Définition of hod
Origin :- 1570s, alteration of Middle English hott "pannier" (c.1300), from Old French hotte "basket to carry on the back," apparently from Frankish *hotta or some other Germanic source (cf. Middle High German hotze "cradle"). Altered by influence of cognate Middle Dutch hodde "basket."
